The Premise

The crown has been stolen. The prophecy has begun.

On the morning after Kushmar's Festival of Golden Sands, the kingdom awakens to an impossible crime: the Crown of Ra'tiya has vanished from its guarded sanctuary. The theft is more than an attack on the throne. It fulfills the first warning of an ancient prophecy the priesthood had hoped would never come to pass.

For Crown Prince Arukah, recovering the Crown becomes a test of far more than inheritance. As fear spreads through the capital and old alliances begin to fracture, he is forced beyond the safety of the palace and into a realm shaped by buried histories, forbidden knowledge, and powers older than the dynasty he is meant to inherit.

At his side stand allies carrying loyalties and secrets of their own: Nubia, Queen Mother and High Priestess of Ra'tiya, whose visions offer guidance at a terrible cost; Kephren, a master goldsmith entrusted with the dangerous art of Sunforging; Lirien, caught between the ancient obligations of her people and the future of Kushmar; and others whose choices may determine whether the kingdom survives what has been set in motion.

But the Crown was not taken by chance. Someone within Kushmar believes the kingdom must be broken before it can become stronger — and beyond its borders, foreign powers are learning that a realm need not be conquered to be taken. It need only be made to forget what it was.
