Heir to the Sun Throne and raised to inherit a kingdom rather than fight for one. When the Crown of Ra'tiya is taken, the weight of the realm settles on him far sooner than anyone intended. He carries visions he does not yet understand, and doubts he cannot admit to the Council.

Queen Mother & High Priestess of Ra'tiya
Mid thirties
Mother to Arukah and keeper of the rites of Ra'tiya, Nubia carries two authorities at once: the temple's and the throne's. She reads the prophecy that has begun to move, sets the protective rites over the capital, and speaks in council with the weight of both. Faith, for her, is a discipline rather than a comfort — and statecraft is the other half of the same vow.

The most persuasive voice in the Council chamber: brilliant, immaculate, and rarely wrong in front of witnesses. He carries the memory of years when that Council doubted him, and he has never entirely put it down. Whatever else may be said of him, he wants Kushmar stronger than he found it.

Master Goldsmith of the Dwarven Guild
Centuries old; appears fifty
A dwarf of the forges whose Sunforged work adorns half the kingdom. He guards the ancestral craft of binding Sun Essence into metal, and grants it sparingly. Blunt, dry and unimpressed by rank, he judges a visitor by their hands rather than their titles.

Keeper of histories the kingdom no longer records, sheltered in a hidden desert sanctuary. The Law of Silence forbids his people from meddling in mortal quarrels not of their making, so he guides by suggestion, omission and the occasional well-placed door left open.

The eyes of the company beyond Kushmar's walls. Aiyah ranges ahead of the party, reads tracks and terrain the others walk straight past, and knows which silence in a canyon means nothing and which means company. Practical where others hesitate, she takes the hard survival decisions early — and does not expect thanks for them.
